Project overview

The Japan-Norway Society wanted to boost their social media presence in a way that helped their mission of sharing Japanese and Norwegian culture, as well as recognizing holidays and special occasions in each country.

I decided to make a series of posts that could also be repurposed each year, and for some of my favorites I used my own analog photos. This choice to use the grainer textures gave a nod to vintage aesthetics that both cultures are fond of; for Norway that’s the 1960s, and for Japan it’s the 1980s. Japan especially loves utilizing older technology to embrace nostalgia, and the diffused shapes embody the feeling of recalling a memory, of which many are made on these holidays.
